Bible reading notes Peace Justice and the Environment Group
St Mildred's Church Choir is comprised of boys, girls, men and women from age 7 upwards. It sings the Sunday morning services, evening services twice a month, occasional Festival evening services and also special events, e.g. weddings, funerals etc.
The current Director of Music at St Mildred's is Jan Pringle. Previous Directors include Derek Dorey, Tim Horton, Martin How and Paul Spicer.
St Mildred's Church Choir has, for nearly 30 years, undertaken to sing the services at cathedrals all over the country mainly during the absence on holiday of the various Cathedral Choirs. It has for instance sung at Wells on a number of occasions, once at York Minster, Ely, Gloucester and Worcester and in 2007 at Chichester. This year, it will be singing for four days at Lichfield from 24th to 27th July. Next year it is booked to sing at Winchester Cathedral. For a fuller list, click here.
There is an active Choir Association devoted to raising money to fund the Cathedral visits.
The Choir has been affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music for over 60 years [and marked this with a Grand Celebration Concert on 10th May 2008].

In that belief the group aims to raise people’s awareness of environmental issues, poverty, homelessness, debt, unfair trade and all abuse of human rights.
